PaperArtsy Topic Journaling Gratitude

Hi everyone, Today I'm here to share with you that I would like to use stamps and stencils by my favourite artist Lin Brown and I hope I could express the beauty of nature in the four seasons. Lin's work is innovative, with great ideas and techniques that have always inspired me. As the Corona pandemic is now almost passed two years, I would like to say a big thank you to Nature for giving me courage and to PaperArtsy for giving me the joy of creating with them as my subject.

Today I worked with some of my favorite materials, vellum and acetate, as well as some basic technique cracks.

This is the book cover. The title is embossed with white powder using the Everything Art's alphabet stamp on vellum.  I like use embossing powder on vellum as it is heat resistant and almost never deforms. Also the translucent nature of the vellum makes the substrate look attractive.

I made the cover using Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Dirty Lime, Cerise, Cerulean, Tangerine Twist and Electric Violet ). These colours are then randomly applied on top of the Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 white card, layered with Lin set 003, 024(PS003, PS024) stencils of the same colours and finally stamped with Lin Set 05 and Tracy Mini 57 (ELB05 and EM57) in Archival ink (Jet Black) to reduce the vibrancy. I like the technique.

On the background of the first page, painted Cerulean, Crackle Glaze and Fuzzy Cactus in that order over Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 white card to create the cracks. When it dry I stamped Lin set 29 (ELB29) by Ranger Archival Ink (Fern Green) then I used Lin PS043 stencil with Grunge Paste.

I embroidered the daisy that Lin sometimes used embroidery in her art and added to the layers.

Using vellum, the flowers are embossed with gold and platinum powder then flowers were cut, and placed with the sentiment. A white card was added to the underneath of the first page card then both card edges were distressed. Then stuck to the cardboard base of the book. Here I have expressed the joy of spring.

For the background of the second page, I used Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Banana, Cerise, Cerulean) randomly, dripped with rubbing alcohol in some places and then stamped Lin Sets 29 and 34 (ELB29, ELB34), then splat with Cerulean.

One of the most popular events of the summer in Japan is the fireworks display, but most of them have been cancelled due to Corona. To remind us of this, I made a sunflower that looks like a big firework in the night sky.

The sunflowers were made to take up the majority of the card by adding lots of petals to create a gorgeous firework display. Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 white card with Tangerine Twist, Tango and Banana painted in a gradient of petal sized circles Lin Set I stamped 24, 26 (ELB24, ELB26) with Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black) and cut them out. I also embossed some ELB26 on vellum with white powder and cut them out too to make the large sunflower.

Then I added Alison's wonderful quote Alison Bomber Set21 (EAB21) to finish it off.

The third page is a collage of book papers and tags, over which I used Grunge Paste with a painting knife to create a little texture. I then sprinkled Infusion Terracotta and The Sage on top and sprayed it with water.

I stamped the Lin Set 29 (ELB29) cardboard stamp with Grunge Paste on the card, and while it was still wet, I created a background using various autumnal colours embossing powders. I wanted to use the leaves as a focal point, so I stamped Lin Set 30 (ELB30) in Snowflake by Stzon Pigment on acetate and fastened it over the background with fasteners.

I added a quote for Alison Set 01 (EAB01) to the top of the card.

The last page is a winter card.
I used Venice Blue, Crackle Glaze and Snowflake to create a background with a winter atmosphere.

Lin Set 22 (ELB22) flowers stamped in white on acetate, with a dark blue background to create a winter flower focal point.

I made a small frame for Lin Set31 (ELB31) sentiment and glued paper stuffing painted with white gesso between it and the white background.

This is the last post for 2021 and here I would like to thank all of you for visiting and commenting so warmly, as well as all the staff at PaperArtsy for giving me this opportunity. I really appreciate it.
Thank you so much for visiting.
Stay safe and see you 2022.
