Sustainable Crafting

 

Hi everyone, today to share with you Handy Holder with Envelope pockets PaperArtsy blog project. I chose this project because it is a fun way to remake and reuse the parcel packages and direct mail envelopes and a little less waste. It's also a great way to spend my time working with lovely designer Tracy Scott stamps and my favourite Frescos  colours.

The first step was to make a master boards. Fresco paint was printed on a thick sheet of printing paper using a Gelli Plate. Using the technique I learnt in Tracy Scott's workshop 'Index Card Art 2', I spread a thin layer of the above Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Banana, Cerise, Cerulean and Electric Violet in my case but any colors you like your choice then one colour at a time print.) onto a Gelli Plate. Mist with water using a spray bottleon the Gelli Plate, use a brayer to blend the water and paint, then use an eyedropper to drip Isopropyl Alcohol in places and print on paper. A circle like this will appear where the alcohol has been dripped. Repeat this process until I got the shade I like and I have some master boards. As always, this process is very enjoyable, with many happy accidents.

The next step is to make a cover for the holder using a stamp from my favourite designer Tracy Scott. I cut a used parcel package to the size of the holder. I then used two sheets of Jelli print papers in similar shades and stamped Tracy Scott set 054 and 057 (TS054, TS057) randomly in Ranger Archival ink (Leaf Green, Blue Violet) to cover and pasted the holder base. Next stamp three mandalas of (TS055) with Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black) on a Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 white card. On the same piece of paper, paint Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Cerulean, Electric Violet and Zucchini) and stamp a small mandala of (TS055) in Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black), cut and stick it in the holder as shown in the picture. Size of the holder-Length 8 1/4" (21cm), Height 5 1/4" (13cm), Depth 3/4" (2cm).

I wanted a slightly darker colour so I added Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Southern Skies).

The majority of the paper is used for the dividers and bellows of the holder itself, leaving some for the envelope collage.

This is the front, I put a clasp on it.--Using Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Cerise) and Tracy Scott set 005 (TS055) and black elastic band.

And the back. 

The holder itself is useful enough, but I made a pocket in it that can be removed using a direct mail envelopes. I thought it would be fun to make a collage on top of it and remake it. Each envelope was coated with White Gesso and once dry, the same technique was used to print the envelopes with the Gelli Plate.

I used my fingers to apply Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Banana, Cerise, Cerulean and Electric Violet) on a Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 white card.I then stamped Tracy's lovely floral stamps, Fuchsia, Magnolia and Mandala in Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black) on them and cut them to use as the focal point of each envelope. Also I used masterboard leftover as a rectangular or circular cutlayer.

The final touch is the addition of a sentiment from Emma Godfrey's flower set 14 (EEG14) to the holder. 

The theme of Sustainable Crafting was a bit abstract for me, but I thinking about how to reuse limited resources and and I have to use up lots of my old supplies too. Also I made this today because I think it's about being able to collaborate and create work with stamps and stencils from wonderful designers then turned it into something good. And then share it with people and have fun connecting the time.

At the Tracy Scott workshop part1

 Hi everybody!! 

Tracy' (Tracy Scott Creative Cafe-Facebook)s work and her products are something I've been really into lately. I've known about her products for a while, as they are available from PaperArtsy, but I've been a bit put off by the intensity of the colours. However, once I saw the Free tutorials I was impressed by her amazing talent and became addicted to the variety of her stamps and stencils. So I decided to take 'Tracy Scott Art Journal Class' workshop class using the first recent products. This is what I made along with that class.

I had a great time in this class, which included a lot of techniques including composition and a great technique to bring out the shapes from her background. I haven't done this review yet, but I will do it soon.

PaperArtsy blog project Topic #10 My Favourite Colour

 

Hi everyone, it's Etsuko My favorite things with you today, and I'm here to share with you Infinity Flip using fabulous Lynne Perrella  stamps.

This time I tried to make a little old style flip card. The theme is My Favourite Colour, so I made the card in one of my favourite colors, blue and yellow. Detailed instructions on how to make an Infinity card can be found on Nicole Fenimore's site.

The first step is to make the base of the card using PaperArtsy Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 white card and lightly color it with brayer in Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Snowflake), (Cerulean) and (A Bit Fish).

Cut 4 pieces at 6 x 3 inches. Score both pieces at 1 1/2 and 4 1/2  inches.

Apply glue to the bottom layer where the hatch marks indicate. Then align and glue the blue hatch marks on top of the red hatch marks.

Create two color papers as a base by gel-printing, used Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Cerulean), (Deep Sea), (Sargasso), and (Blue Oyster) on the blue paper.

On the other yellow paper. used Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Yellow Submarine), (Lemon Meringue), (Persimmon) and (Cerulean). Then I stamped halfway down the paper with Lynne perrella set 28 (LPC028) and Jofy set 09 (JOFY09) by Ranger Archival ink (Saffron and Forget-Me-Not). I cut both base into the small squares shown below. ★ 2 3/4  x  2 3/4  (2) pieces ★ 5 3/4  x  2 3/4 (3) pieces ★ 2 3/4 x 1 1/4  (8) pieces ★ 1 1/4  x 1 1/4 (8) pieces.

Page one--Using stamps are Lynne perrella set 041(LPC041), Hot Pics set 1005(HP1005) and Alison Bomber set 21(EAB21)--quote by Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black). Fresco Chalk Acrylic  (Blush), (Toffee)and (Cerise) for her face. For the four rectangular bands I used Lynne Perrella set 023 (LPC023) by white WOW embossing powder.

Page two,

Page two--Stamped Lynne Perrella set 050 (LPC050) by Archival ink (Jet Black), set 005 (LPC005) and set 006 (LPC006) by Wow some embossing-powder. These golden towers are the same ones on both sides of page three.

Page three,

Page three-- I stamped Lynne Perrella set 049 (LPC049) by Archival ink (Jet Black) and set 009 (LPC009) by Archival ink (Fern Green and Library Green). Small squares are painted with Fresco Chalk Acrylic (gold) stamped set009 (LPC009) by WOW embossing powder. Then I added Alison Bomber set 03 (EAB03) quote 'Music & Silence'.

Page four--Lynne Perrella set 050 (LPC050) stamped on the central focal point by Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black), Seth Apter set 20 (ESA20) used for the side rectangles and embossed by WOW yellow powder. Also I added Alison Bomber set 21 (EAB21) quote.
